Brown Cedar Much Uses

Because of its visual appeal and functionality, brown cedar mulch is chosen by many homeowners to be purposed for both decorative and practical uses. While the material adds to the look of any garden or flower bed, it also contributes to plant health. An appropriate layer of mulch keeps water from being evaporated by the sun, retains excess moisture, and maintains temperatures in the soil that are optimal for the growth of flowers and other vegetation.

Brown cedar mulch is also known for its ability to repel insects and other pests. This is especially important in cases where gardens are growing vegetables for human consumption. Not only does it minimize any threat to the integrity of your plants, but it also reduces the amount of pesticides used in the garden area. Homeowners with children might also use the material around play areas in order to keep insects from disturbing children at play.

Brown Cedar Mulch Pricing

Brown cedar mulch is considered to be “natural” because its coloration isn’t adjusted prior to being sold. As a result, the price of this material is kept at a minimum, with no added costs to buyers. Because it is so effective at serving its intended purposes, most homeowners feel that they get an excellent return on their investment with this particular landscaping material.

You will, of course, need to consider the fact that the amount of mulch that you require to complete your project will affect the final cost. After carefully measuring the coverage area, multiply the length x width x depth of the space. This will tell you how many cubic feet of mulch you’ll need to buy. Typically, brown cedar mulch is sold in 3 cubic foot bags. If a large volume of material is needed, you may consider buying mulch by the pallet, which results in a lower price per bag.

When shopping for brown cedar mulch, be wary of prices that seem to be much lower than other rates you’ve seen. In some cases, you’ll come across a vendor selling the material extremely cheaply because the natural cedar mulch is likely not cedar at all.

Be aware that some people will breakup wooden pallets, dye regular mulch and find other creative ways to mislabel their cedar mulch as the real deal. If the price seems to low to be true, it probably is.

Bagged Brown Cedar Mulch vs. Bulk Delivery

When you’re planning on beginning a relatively large project with brown cedar mulch, you may be giving some thought to having a bulk supply delivered to your location.

Most experts agree, though, that this isn’t actually necessary, nor is it the most cost-efficient or effective method of utilizing the material. Brown cedar mulch is bagged after being screened for contaminants, pests, or debris to ensure safety.

The bags are also weighed appropriately, to minimize the possibility of injury to users when pouring the mulch over the coverage area. In cases where large quantities of the material is needed, it’s smart to purchase bags by the pallet, so that the correct quantity can be procured, while still allowing for the easy manipulation of the mulch.

Bagged mulch will almost always be a cheaper option than bulk delivery as shipping costs of bulk mulch is much higher than that of bagged mulch. Those additional costs must then be passed on to you.
